Why the new format?

In previous years players didn’t practice during the week but just had games on a Saturday. With one of our philosophies being Player Development we need to allow for the kids to improve their technical and tactical skills during practice sessions. Players will work closely with UK trainers on their skills at a one-hour session during the week and then play in small-sided jamboree soccer games on a Saturday.

Why Jamboree Style?
This gives the greatest flexibility to the trainer to create teams based upon the current attendance and player ability. It will allow games to become more competitive, skills to be reinforced, and play to be positive while reinforcing the AYSO philosophies.

Is my child on a team?
Your child is not assigned a formal team but will be placed with other children their age on Saturdays when they are scheduled to play. Players’ show up and play on a different team every week in jamboree style, they will be given a pinnie, introduced to members of their team and play! For the newly added practice sessions your child will select which option works best for them to attend.

What will the focus of each session be on?
Number one is fun! Closely followed by player development; we want every child to improve their skills throughout the spring season and will work on a new topic each week at practice sessions.

When does the season start? And when do sessions run and end?
Sessions start the week beginning 14th March and end 21st May with game days on a Saturday. Practice sessions last for one hour and the practice day will remain the same each week based on your selected choice.

When are games on a Saturday?
The schedule for age group games will be released early in March. Games for each age group will likely have the same time slot each week, e.g. U10 Girls 12-1pm

Can I still volunteer?
Absolutely! And we encourage coaches to remain involved! This program gives volunteers flexibility…. you don’t have to commit! Assist and learn from the UK coaches during the weekly sessions or drop in on a Saturday and help with jamboree games.
